This year’s Iowa State Fair was definitely one for the books… and if you attended the festivities, you know NOTHING COMPARED. We were particularly excited about the 33rd annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show. P&K Midwest had the opportunity to participate in the charity event and we had a blast.
Our favorite steer happened to go by the name of Dream Boy. He was a crossbred steer, raised by Isaac Wiley of Walker. Dream Boy came to the Governor’s Charity Show by way of the Benton County Fair, where we was Reserve Champion Market Steer. Dream Boy was escorted around the fairgrounds and the arena during the show by our very own celebrity, P&K General Manager, Scott Eisenhauer. And we might be a little partial… but our cheering section was the best, bar-none. We had a great time cheering and participating in the fun, and supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa.
P&K Midwest teamed with the Benton County Cattlemen and other supporters, like Pioneer Seed, US Bank- Vinton, Newhall Locker, Vita Plus, Koopman Grinding, Kaiser AG, IDEAL Industries, Tama-Benton Coop, LG Seeds- Dane Reiter and Patrick Hall, and Ag Land Realty to sponsor Dream Boy. At the end of the day, Dream Boy was purchased by Benton County Cattlemen and local supporters for $8,000. Overall the Charity Steer Show brought in a record-breaking $222,686 for the Ronald McDonald Charities.
So, thank you to the Benton County Cattlemen and the Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show for allowing P&K to participate- GO TEAM DREAM BOY!
